Leadership Development

CLASSIFIED MANAGEMENT TRAINING
The Cosca Group is offering professional development to build leadership capacity for classified managers.
  • Classified managers need and want capacity building in various management duties but not all districts have the resources to provide essential training.
  • Newly promoted directors and managers are often left to learn independently – and succeed or fail, due to the void of professional growth.
We are offering four modules to build capacity in classified managers, which will augment emerging classified leaders to acquire an extended knowledge base in major areas of responsibilities. Attending each training module will equip classified managers or emerging classified managers with essential job-embedded strategies and techniques. Districts hoping to grow their own classified leaders will want to take advantage of this opportunity to provide quality training so they may build an understanding of their potential role as a district leader and understand all the areas of responsibility are interrelated and how efficacy can be achieved when they understand how the district systems work.

THE MODULES
The following four modules are offered in a variety of ways. First, we offer them to be taken as a series of four classes that can be taken as a group or individual module.  Second, each module will be interactive in nature and be approximately 2.5 – 3 hours long.

These classes are:

  • Supervision of Employees
  • Frisk memos and Skelly hearings
  • Evaluation of Employees
  • Equity vs. Equality in the workplace

WAYS TO ACCESS THE MODULES
A webinar of these classes will be available online for individuals who are interested in increasing their skills in the various content areas.  TCG will offer these classes via a webinar several times per year.

For in-person instruction, we will work with districts and county offices directly to outline a training program that addresses their needs.  In-person instruction of these classes is available to current district classified management staff and/or to those employees who are on a promotion track to management with a minimum of 10 participants
Your district is welcome to develop customized groups for in-person instruction in partnership with job-alike personnel from other districts. A minimum number of 6 would be required for in-person instruction. County Offices may offer these modules so that several districts can provide this training.
